How to Blog More Frequently

Do you want to write more posts on your blog? Maybe you’re an aspiring blogger who is lacking in motivation, or maybe you’ve been blogging for a while and are looking to diversify your content.

Here are some tips that will help inspire you to blog more frequently!

Write at least one blog post per week

Let’s start with the basics. Even if you don’t have lots of ideas for blog posts, simply writing about one topic per week is a successful blogging schedule.

You can flesh out your idea over time and eventually create something really great!

Write a list post

List posts (listicles, like this post) are very popular on the web these days so why not write one of your own?

List posts are easy to write and fun to read.

They can provide a quick and entertaining break from in-depth content.

Write an opinion blog post

Opinion pieces tend to attract more readers than regular articles, which is why they are so popular on social media.

If you’re looking to attract more readers then write an opinion piece about a current event, or an interesting topic that your audience might find helpful.

Feature guest posts from other bloggers

If you haven’t already heard of the idea of “guest blogging” it’s essentially where other people write blog posts on your blog, with a link at the bottom of their post directing people to their site.

It’s great for reaching new audiences and can be beneficial for both parties.

Use a blogging schedule so you don’t forget to write new content

If you are finding it hard to find time to write blog posts then using a blogging schedule is the perfect solution.

On your WordPress dashboard, go to settings and choose “scheduled publishing”. Use this feature so that new posts will be scheduled for certain times of the week (eg Monday 7am).

This way you can write ahead of time and not have to worry about forgetting posts.

Recycle old blog content: turn old posts into new ones

You might say, “but I already published that post!” Don’t be afraid to recycle your old blog posts. If you’re anything like me then some of your older posts won’t be as good as they could be.

Go through your archive and select the best posts, update them for better readability, or simply copy/paste the entire post into a document so that you can use it as a template.

Create content around trending topics

When there’s something big going on in the world, take advantage of it! It’s a great idea to write a blog post around trending topics in the news that you can then share on social media.

For example, when Donald Trump became President-elect of America I wrote an opinion piece about it which did really well.

Create content that is relevant and interesting for your audience

We’ve talked about writing content that is popular, but it’s also important to write content that your audience will actually find interesting.

Use data from analytics, surveys and feedback sessions to gather information about what people want to read.

Ask questions in your blog posts for example: “What do you think about X?”.

Include images, videos, or other multimedia in your posts if possible

Images and videos are a great way to help keep your blog posts interesting. You don’t have to use multimedia if it doesn’t suit your topic but including a graphic, image, or video can be helpful.

Videos are particularly popular on social media so you might want to consider adding them in!

Comment on other blogs as well as share their content with your followers

Blog commenting is a good way to get your name out there and gather new followers.

The more people who follow you, the more likely they will be to return to your blog for additional reading.

Alternatively, if you write a really interesting comment on another person’s blog then that person might check out yours as well!

Be consistent – stick to the same time of day or frequency of posting each week

If you want to be successful at blogging, then you need to make sure that readers can find your blog regularly and reliably.

If you were thinking of trying a new time or frequency of posting but aren’t sure whether it will work for your audience, try taking Google Analytics for a test run first.

Rewrite old posts to improve readability and SEO

If you are recycling old blog posts and rewriting them then you might want to improve the readability of your writing. In some cases, old posts might be hard for people to follow or not very search engine optimised (SEO).

Make sure that anything you write is written as though it’s a brand new post so that it’s easily accessible to new and returning readers.

Use social media to promote your posts

Now that you’ve gotten some great ideas for blog posts, share them on social media to your friends and followers.

This is a simple step that can result in tremendous exposure for your site and might result in more engagement from new readers.

Most blogging platforms have built-in social sharing options so take advantage of these!

As you can see, there are many ways to write blogging posts and a lot of them don’t require any additional work. If you’re short on time, then be sure to recycle previous blog posts into future ones; even if they aren’t perfect. Also remember that writing about a trending topic is another great way to contribute interesting content to your blog. Make sure that you check your analytics to make sure that content is actually popular and well received by your audience!
